The dog,
which apparently slipped out of a home on McConnell Road,
attacked at least one child on Monday.
Greensboro, NC --
A pit bull which escaped from a home and bit two children will
be put to sleep.
The attack happened on McConnell road
around 4:30 pm.
Kelly Carlton, the dog
owner's sister, says the animal was inside her brother's home
but slipped out the door when she came over for a
visit.
"I'm really sorry this happened because no child
should be bitten...But this was a family pet and we don't know
what happened or why it happened."
Carlton's brother
turned the dog over to animal control. Kelly Carlton says her
brother is very upset over the incident.
The Guilford
County Animal Shelter will keep the dog in quarantine for 10
days and then euthanized the animal. Authorities say the dog
has to be put down because after attacking two children it is
considered dangerous.
Both children were treated at
Moses Cone for their injuries.
