Two Chilean editors, Patricio Ovando and Pilar Rodriguez, resigned from TV station Channel 13 because they said the station was censoring their investigative report on “discrimination against domestic workers in the country,” the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas reported.
Chile’s National Council of the Association of Journalists criticized Channel 13’s call against airing “the second part” of the journalists’ investigation.
We wrote in January when viewers complained to Chile’s National Television Council about an interview on domestic workers. The Chilevision interview was criticized for being discriminatory and airing out-of-context quotes, as we wrote.
We have written to the National Television Council asking if there has been any resolution in the complaints over the Chilevision interview and will update with any response. We have written to Channel 13 to see if it has any response to Ovando and Rodriguez’s claims and will update with any response.
