2 UK News Sites Hacked on ‘World Hackers’ Day?’

UK news sites the Telegraph and the Register were hacked and had their traffic re-routed to another non-related site, Journalism.co.uk reported.

National Geographic‘s website and a few other sites were hacked as well.

However, both the Telegraph and the Register deny that the hacks “compromised” any consumer or reader information, according to Journalism.co.uk.

PC World explained that the sites were re-routed to “a page controlled by ‘Turkguvenligi.'”   The common thread between all three sites is their DNS services company, NetNames.

According to the Telegraph, the hackers stated on the re-directed page that Sept. 4 was “World Hackers’ Day.”
