Rebekah Brooks, the CEO of News International, indicated in 2003 that the Sun, where she is a former editor, had paid police for information. But, she recently told Parliament that she didn’t know about any “specific cases” where the newspaper paid police, Journalism.co.uk reported.  Brooks reportedly said:

“My intention was simply to comment generally on the widely-held belief that payments had been made in the past to police officers.  If, in doing so, I gave you the impression that I had knowledge of any specific cases, I can assure you that this was not my intention.”
