The Guardian has reported that WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange will not be writing his memoir after all. At the time of the “million-pound book deal,” Assange boasted his hopes that the Assange memoir “would become one of the unifying documents of our generation.” Money from the book was to help pay his legal fund.
But, Assange has reportedly claimed the book “could give ammunition to US prosecutors.” The Guardian sourced its report to anonymous “publishing sources.”
An unnamed spokesperson for the publisher, Canongate, stated the company won’t “discuss the book ‘until it is ready to'” and that the company won’t comment until after Assange’s extradition hearing next week.
