The Star Tribune turned down an advertisement from the Presbyterian Lay Committee that was run in the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Denver Post and other major news outlets, MinnPost.com reported.

The organization sponsoring the ad is “a group opposing that denomination’s acceptance of non-celibate gays and lesbians into the ministry.” The ad questions why the church doesn’t “require its ordained leaders to limit their sexual activity to Christian marriage.”

MinnPost.com reported that the Star Tribune reportedly told the organization the newspaper might run the ad if the references to “sex within marriage” and the Bible were cut.
