POLITICO suggested Jan. 1 that the Huffington Post got an “exclusive interview” with Mitt Romney because the CEO for Huffington Post’s owner, AOL, Tim Armstrong made a donation to Romney’s campaign.
The interview, published Dec. 29, is available here.
POLITICO cited the Federal Election Commission’s report and an October post on Little Green Footballs, which notes Armstrong made the donation in June 2011.
However, Huffington Post political editor Sam Stein suggested there was no “connection” with his comments to POLITICO that Armstrong has “no editorial role,” unlike the Huffington Post’s Arianna Huffington, “who oversees the newsroom” and “does not make any political contributions.”
