The Chicago Sun-Times editor Jim Kirk commented on “a series of offensive tweets about women” by the Sun-Times’ Joe Cowley, Sherman Report reported.

The Chicago Tribune summarized some of Cowley’s tweets in question as “likening flight attendants to Sasquatch and questioning the abilities of the plane’s ‘chick pilot.'”

Kirk called the tweets “offensive” and said Cowley “has been reprimanded appropriately, however Sherman Report noted that Cowley is still apparently writing for the newspaper.

Kirk also said “The Chicago Sun-Times is an institution with important social responsibilities, and we expect those who represent our paper to act with the respect and sensitivity that our readers deserve. ”

The Chicago Tribune noted that Cowley apparently deleted his Twitter account.  @cst_cowley
