Journalists attending a “Guidelines for Political Journalism” workshop were advised on reporting “truthful, unbiased information” on politics and to carefully report on “views that had the potential to promote violent conflicts,” according to Daily Guide Ghana.
Journalists were also advised to follow the Ghana Journalists’ Association’s ethics code and to avoid checkbook journalism.
Ghana’s National Media Commission also issued a draft “Guidelines for Political Journalism,” Daily Guide Ghana reported. Ghana’s media groups have issued many statements recently about the media’s coverage of its upcoming December elections, as we have written.
