A.S. Panneerselvan has been named the new readers’s editor at the Hindu, according to a report in the Hindu.
According to the Hindu, it’s “the only newspaper in India that has institutionalised the office of the Readers’ Editor, an independent internal news ombudsman functioning with clearly formulated Terms of Reference modelled on those of The Guardian.” Further, while the newspaper’s had readers’ editors for six years, Panneerselvan “will be the first Readers’ Editor with no prior editorial association with The Hindu group.”
The Hindu profiled Panneerselvan on its website.
We wrote in April 2011 when the Hindu established a “code of editorial values” to help “protect” readers’ trust.
