The Toronto Star averaged close to two corrections a day this year.  Star public editor Kathy English told iMediaEthics that in total, the Star ran 695 corrections – 415 print, 280 online only.

According to English’s report on the year’s errors, the Canadian daily newspaper’s corrections are showing a “continuing upward trend.”   As iMediaEthics wrote previously, last year the Star published 366 corrections in print.

English attributed the growing number of errors to “several factors” including;

  • “‘digital-first’ 24/7 publishing,”
  •  “fewer copy editors”
  •   readers catching errors
