The Ministry of Culture and Information called for less make-up on women on TV.

Afghanistan Ministry of Culture and Information has called for women on “state and private TV stations”  to wear head scarves and “avoid heavy make-up,” Reuters reported.

The ministry made its call “in a letter distributed to media” in response to “complaints from members of parliament and families that female news presenters were not observing Islamic and cultural ethics,” according to Reuters.

In response to the letter, “media development group” Nai told Reuters the group has “concerns” and “fears” it could lead to “media limitation.”
