ITV News host Alastair Stewart resigned after breaking ITV’s social media guidelines.

In a statement in ITV News’ own news story on the matter, Stewart said, “It was a misjudgement which I regret, but it’s been a privilege to bring the news to households throughout the UK for the past 40 years.”

Stewart had tweeted a quote from Shakespeare’s Measue for Measure that included the “like an angry ape” in response to a critic, who is black, the BBC reported.

iMediaEthics has written to ITV seeking more information. Stewart appears to have deactivated his Twitter.
