Are ESPN Interviews Scripted by Management?

Sports by Brooks reported that ESPN’s executive editor John Walsh confirmed that the network seems to have scripted ESPN’s interviews with James Andrew Miller, who authored “tell-all” book on the network. Walsh reportedly made his statement to  Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated.

Walsh reportedly e-mailed Deitsch, “In advance of the interviews, we identified areas for questions that would be interesting to our audience, consistent with the main themes of the book and not disparaging to our colleagues. Any live interview can go in any number of directions.”

MediaBistro’s SportsNewser questioned why the network interviewed Miller at all “if you’re scared about the direction of the interview?”
