Bangladesh University to Complain to Press Council over Stories it Says are Fabricated

A spokesperson for North South University in Bangladesh denied news articles written about it and said the university plans to contact the Bangladesh  Press Council over the articles, Bangladesh newspaper the Daily Star reported.

The university claimed in a press release that the stories are “biased and false” as well as fabricated and contrary to “the ethics of journalism,” the Daily Star reported.

Interestingly, the Daily Star didn’t identify specifically what the stories in question claimed about North South University.  The Daily Star did report that the information relates to “the NSU’s academic activities and admission process.”

We wrote earlier this year when the Daily Star criticized media outlets for interviewing the 5-year-old child of a journalist couple.  The child witnessed his parents’ murder. Curiously, the Daily Star also published an interview with the boy. See that report here.

We sent an e-mail message asking for more information to , but the e-mail bounced back.
