UK Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne claimed the BBC reported with bias on “the economy and the government’s recovery plans,” the Guardian reported.
But, the BBC denies any charges of bias. The BBC’s business editor Jeremy Hillman responded on a BBC blog that the BBC’s reporting has been fair. At the center of Osborne’s complaints seems to be “comments made recently by the OECD’s chief economist, Pier Carlo Padoan,” that Osborne claims the BBC “over-interpreted.”
Hillman argued that “these comments had indeed been over-interpreted elsewhere in the media and we made a conscious decision, after an early report, not to report the comments prominently.”
