The BBC wrongly identified South African man named Rufus Lekala as “Gay Marriage” in an on-air segment, the Guardian reported.
Lekala is the chief harbor master for South African government-owned freight transport company Transnet. Transnet spokesperson Lunga Ngcobo called for an explanation of the error, commenting to South Africa’s Times Live that:
“We understood that it was a mistake. But we have asked [the] BBC to explain how this happened. We want them to get the facts correct.”
The BBC apologized for its glitch, calling it a “technical error.”
