The BBC apologized Dec. 8 for a “human error” that resulted in Nazi rally footage being aired in place of the weather forecast, the Daily Mail reported.
The footage showed “images of Nazi rallies and the occupation of the [Channel] islands” during World War II. Notably, the footage was posted on “the BBC’s South West region website which includes the Channel Islands.”
The Daily Mail reported that a BBC spokesperson explained the switch-up was “a mistake.” She reportedly stated that a BBC employee “uploaded the wrong footage which was a news item due to be shown that evening about a Guernsey evacuee.”
