Burmese Mag Doesn’t have to Name Author of Article Accused of Libel

Burmese weekly magazine The Voice doesn’t have to name reporter behind a March story being sued for libel, the Associated Press reported.

According to the AP, in Burma, “publications still follow their old policy of writing anonymously on sensitive subjects.”

The article in question details “misappropriation and irregularities in the accounts of several ministries including information, agriculture, industry and mines from 2009-2011.”  One of the ministries in Burma, the Mines Ministry, is suing and had wanted to know who reported the story.
