The (Long Beach) Beachcomber is selling advertorials, LA Observed reported.
According to the “pitch” from their “advertising rep,” republished by LA Observed,
“The cost for these ‘advertorials’ is equivalent to the one-time advertising rate for quarter (20″/$484), third (30″/$698) and half (40″/$894) pages. There are approximately 20 words per column inch in a story, so a quarter-page feature would have 400 words, including headline, less 20 words per column inch for any photos used.”
We wrote to the Beachcomber asking if these advertorials are disclosed. An e-mail from the “editor@” e-mail account provided an example of the advertorials, which are labeled as such. See below a screenshot.
