Trinidad and Tobago’s president, George Maxwell Richards, called for the media to be independent, the Liberian Observer reported.
Richards also advocated press freedom in his talk at the International Press Institute’s annual assembly, which was held in Trinidad and Tobago.
During one panel, “the State of State Media,” Inter-American Press Association executive director Julio Munoz said that “State-owned media means misinformation to the public,” Trinidad Express reported.
