Juror No. 6 in the Casey Anthony trial is soliciting media outlets for at least $50,000 to tell his story, The Daily Beast’s Howard Kurtz reported.
Kurtz included an e-mail from the juror’s PR representative, Rick French, in which French explains the juror, identified as “a married, college-educated, 33-year-old white male with two young children,” will conduct “one or more media interviews so long as the opportunities are paid.”
Interestingly, Kurtz noted that during jury selection, Juror No. 6, told the assistant prosecutor that “I don’t see why I would” talk to the media after the trial, according to Daily Beast reporter Diane Dimond.
As StinkyJournalism has previosuly reported, the Casey Anthony case has resulted in several high-profile examples of checkbook journalism. In February 2009, it was revealed that ABC News paid for Casey Anthoyn’s parents, Cindy and George Anthony, to stay at a Ritz-Carlton for three nights.
In March 2010, it was revealed in court that ABC News paid Anthony $200,000 for “licensing materials.” In late June, Roy Kronk, who found Casey Anthony’s dead daughter Caylee’s remains, told the court that ABC News paid him $15,000 to license a photo of a dead snake, but that he knew an interview would be part of the payment.
