CJR Fact-Checks PolitiFact

Columbia Journalism Review has stepped in as one of the latest to fact check the fact checkers at PolitiFact.  A recent CJR post looked into PolitiFact’s truth ruling on a statement about Republicans and Medicare.

PolitiFact ruled on a Democratic political ad that Republicans “voted to end Medicare”  and called it “pants on fire.”

According to CJR, many readers criticized PolitiFact’s ruling.  CJR decided that “technically, the ad is not correct,” however PolitiFact’s ruling “feels unduly harsh for some reason.  What makes this, for instance, not simply ‘False?'” CJR wondered.
