Digital Journal reported that Cooks Source’s editor Judith Griggs confirmed that the New England cooking magazine has closed.
Griggs and Cooks Source were made famous this month after blogger Monica Gaudio accused them of copyright infringement. Cooks Source published Gaudio’s copyrighted blog recipe without her permission.
E-mail exchanges between Gaudio and Griggs, Facebook updates and Cooks Source website statements suggested that Griggs was confused about copyright law. She boldly suggested Gaudio should pay Cooks Source for editing after Gaudio’s request for an apology and charitable donation as remedy for the magazine’s copyright violation.
Gaudio’s claims of copyright infringement became hot topic on the Internet, as news sites including NPR and Wired picked up Gaudio’s story. Many rallied for Gaudio on the Cooks Source Facebook page and on other Facebook pages. Gaudio’s supporters reportedly contacted Cooks Source’s advertisers with complaints, and some advertisers “pulled out” of the magazine.
The Cooks Source website was unplugged and no longer available Nov. 19 at 7:45 PM EST.
