The Daily Caller’s White House correspondent Amber Athey apologized for her 2012 tweets about the Holocaust and Jewish people and that used anti-gay slurs. Athey was in high school when she posted the tweets.

Daily Caller White House correspondent Amber Athey‘s old tweets were first posted by Timothy Johnson, a researcher for progressive website Media Matters,” Mediaite reported.

Tweets included, according to the Daily Beast:

  • “how many jews can fit in a clown car? 1002. 2 in the seats and 1000 in the ash trays. Sorry @SaltznPeppa !!”
  • “What happens when a jew with an erection walks into a wall? they break their nose.”
  • “If youre a guy and you have two earrings in one ear you are a faggot”

In a tweeted statement, Athey apologized, noting that she was in high school when she posted them. “I sincerely apologize for past tweets of mine from when I was in high school. At the time they were written, they were intended as jokes among high school friends,” she wrote in part. “I understand now that they are not funny and are in fact extremely harmful.”

Athey told iMediaEthics the tweets were from high school and deleted more than a year ago.
