Neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer libeled Muslim comedian and radio host Dean Obeidallah when it falsely claimed he was the “mastermind” of the Ariana Grande concert bombing.

The site’s 2017 article headlined, “Dean Obeidallah, Mastermind Behind Manchester Bombing, Calls on Trump to Declare Whites the Real Terrorists,” also claimed he was a member of ISIS and a “confessed terrorist” wanted by security services. According to UPI, the article also featured fake tweets attributed to Obeidallah.

iMediaEthics has written to both sides.

“American Muslims should be able to take part in public life without being threatened or attacked,” Obeidallah said in a statement according to wire service UPI. “This ruling sends a clear message that Muslim voices will not be silenced by threats and hate.”

U.S. District Judge Edmund Sargus Jr. told the site to remove the article, according to UPI. The site’s founder Andrew Anglin must pay Obeidallah $4.1 million as well. The Associated Press noted that Anglin “hasn’t responded” to the lawsuit and his “whereabouts are unclear”; however, Anglin’s father testified in court.

Sargus ruled, according to the New York Times, that Anglin and the Daily Stormer “acted with actual malice when they published false statements, with knowledge of the falsity of those statements or with reckless disregard for the truth.”
