The MTA Video Music Awards haven’t happened yet but that didn’t stop Entertainment Tonight from publishing an article about a performance that hasn’t happened.
The Aug. 20 article, headlined “PREP: Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes Get Flirty During Spicy ‘Senorita’ Performance at VMAs,” was obviously a pre-written story that must have been accidentally published. After all, the VMAs aren’t until Aug. 26.
John Rizzotti, the vice president of communications for Entertainment Tonight‘s parent company CBS, told iMediaEthics by e-mail, “we experienced a rare digital error and a story was published by accident. This mistake was immediately rectified and taken down from the site.”
The article includes notes to insert text, but said the duo “brought the heat,” performed a song “to screaming fans,” with “killer choreography” and included a “steamy performance.”
The article has since been deleted but was available via Google cache. A Google search for the headline produces search results for the article.
