An MSNBC graphic wrongly said George Wallace — who was a segregationist governor of Alabama during portions of the 1960s through the 1980s, and a failed presidential candidate — was a Republican, when he was a member of the Democratic Party.

The error was made during a report on the “50-year anniversary of Wallace’s infamous ‘Stand in the Schoolhouse Door,’ in which the governor physically blocked two black students from entering the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa,” National Review reported.

It earned an apology tweet from MSNBC’s Chris Hayes and an on-air correction, according to Media Bistro.  Hayes tweeted June 12:

Video of the on-air correction is posted over on Media Bistro.
