Fox News and ABC News aired a “selectively edited” video of a speech made by Teamster president James Hoffa, Yahoo News reported. His speech has been heavily criticized for containing “inflammatory remarks.”
According to Yahoo News, the edited clip has been accused of “inciting violence against the Tea Party.” However, the comments are slightly misconstrued by the editing.
Hoffa’s full quote, according to progressive media watchdog Media Matters is:
“Everybody here’s got to vote. If we go back and we keep the eye on the prize. Let’s take these son-of-a-bitches out and give America back to America where we belong.”
Fox News and ABC News didn’t air Hoffa’s suggestion to vote for other politicians to replace the Tea Party members. They instead focused on the “Let’s take these son-of-a-bitches out” part. Both the Tea Party Express chairperson, Amy Kremer, and Michele Bachmann, slammed Hoffa’s comments as they appeared in the edited clip.
In a follow-up post, Media Matters claimed that the LA Times, the Washington Post, USA Today and CNN all published the edited quotes.
