Fox News’ Sean Hannity appeared in a Donald Trump ad without telling the network he planned to do so. He won’t be allowed to do it again, Fox News has now said.
iMediaEthics asked Fox News if there would be any disciplinary action taken against Hannity but the network only sent this statement: “We were not aware of Sean Hannity participating in a promotional video and he will not be doing anything along these lines for the remainder of the election season.”
Hannity has been publicly supporting Trump, with the Daily Beast noting he “regularly features Trump on his shows in softball interviews and town halls, and recently sent a private jet for Newt Gingrich to confer with the Republican presidential nominee.”
The Trump ad is below.
iMediaEthics has also written to Hannity’s website for comment.
Meanwhile, the Federal Election Commission filings showed that Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager and current CNN commentator, was paid $20,000 last month for “strategy consulting” even though he was also being paid by CNN. A Trump spokesperson told the New York Times that Lewandowski’s payment is his “monthly severance payments” which he gets until the end of 2016. A CNN spokesperson confirmed to iMediaEthics that Lewandowski has not been suspended despite reports otherwise.
