Glenn Beck settled a libel lawsuit filed against him and his show after he claimed Saudi student Abdulrahman Alharbi was the “money man” behind the Boston Marathon bombings in April 2013.
As iMediaEthics has reported, Alharbi sued Beck, his news site The Blaze and two radio companies for saying he was “a very bad, bad, bad man.” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, however, had confirmed Alharbi was “never even really a person of interest” in the bombings. Alharbi had been at the finish line during the bombings as a spectator and the judge ruled he was a private figure, not a public figure.
This week the case was settled but the details are private, Politico reported.
“The parties in this matter have reached a settlement of the pending action. The terms of the settlement are confidential,” both sides said in a statement reported by Politico. “No party has admitted any fault, wrongdoing, or responsibility as part of the settlement.”

Last month, Beck’s producer Joe Weasel said he wouldn’t comply with U.S. District Court Judge Patti Saris’s order to identify the two Department of Homeland Security staff members who he said were the sources of Beck’s claims about Alharbi, claiming that they would be harmed by having their identities known.
