Google Gets Around 250,000 Calls Weekly to Take Down Copyright Infringement Links

Google disclosed last week that “it receives upwards of 250,000 requests to remove links to pirated content each week,” CNN reported.

According to CNN, Google says it takes down links to any copyright violation within “11 hours.”

The past ten months’ worth of “removal requests” are published here in Google’s “online transparency report.”

Google handles these complaints by having an “automated” then “human” review of a Google form, before taking down any content.  According to CNN, “Google said it recently rejected a request from a major entertainment company that asked the search leader to remove a result that linked to a newspaper’s negative review of a TV show.”
