Hungarian TV news station N1TV was hacked yesterday after the station fired a camerawoman who tripped refugees.
N1TV fired Petra László after videos of her tripping refugees fleeing a refugee camp went viral, as iMediaEthics previously wrote. Another video showed her apparently kicking refugees. The station call her behavior unacceptable.
In a press release from the station’s editor-in-chief Szabolcs Kisberk sent to iMediaEthics, the station said:
“Thursday evening a hacker attack was launched against the site and servers of the Hungarian Nemzeti 1 Television. The attack occurred from a Turkish IP address, and responsibility for the attack was taken by Fallaga Team, a Tunisian Islamist hacker group. The hackers deleted all contents of the site, archives and correspondence of N1 TV.
“As we confirmed it earlier, the action of our ex-colleague has been condemned by the editors, her contract was terminated immediately after the video was released. Despite this we received dozens of life threats, blood-wit was imposed on our ex-colleague, and we have been threatened with exploding our editors’ headquarters, and exterminating our families.“Our editors have turned to the Prosecutors’ Authority due to the attack and threats.”
