iMediaEthics Named a Finalist for 3 EPPY awards

iMediaEthics is very pleased to report it has been selected as finalist for three EPPY awards, annual awards given by Editor & Publisher.

David Moore, iMediaEthics’ polling director, is one of two finalists for the Best News/Political Blog with under 1 million unique monthly visitors. Moore, a former Gallup pollster, heads iMediaEthics’ polling center, providing analysis and commentary on media polls and best standards in polling.  The other finalist is Humphrey on the Hill from the Knoxville News Sentinel.

The EPPY’s Best Overall Website Design with under 1 million unique monthly visitors finalists are iMediaEthics, TheDay.com, RT Doc, and Six-Six.com. iMediaEthics launched a re-design of its website this summer.

iMediaEthics’ editor-in-chief Rhonda Roland Shearer’s investigation into the New York Times‘ coverage of Egypt is listed among the seven finalists for the Best News or Event Feature with under 1 million unique monthly visitors.

Shearer’s December 2014 story NY Times Never Called Me! Anonymous Sources, Fact Check Failures Rule in Egypt, Analysis reveals surveyed the New York Times‘ Cairo bureau chief David Kirkpatrick’s coverage from Oct. 26 to Dec. 2, 2014, and found a heavy reliance on anonymous sources and a failure to contact key sources for comment.

See all EPPY finalists here. The winners will be named next week, Oct. 28 at 1:30 PM EST on editorandpublisher.com. Editor and Publisher‘s press release announcing the finalists says the contest received “more than 400 entries competing in 31 diverse categories.”

iMediaEthics was a finalist in 2012 for Best Investigative/Enterprise Feature on a website with under 1 million unique monthly visitors.
