Bornwell Chakaodza opined for Financial Gazette that journalism ethics in Zimbabwe are “under pressure.” Commenting that journalists are better at criticizing others than being criticized, Chakaodza wrote that “cut-throat competition has put journalism ethics under immense pressure.”
For example, new independent newspapers, a lack of diversity, and weakened journalism ethics are issues Zimbabwe’s “landscape of communication” sees, according to Chakaodza.
Chakaodza added that journalists are getting too involved in stories (“finding ourselves driving it instead of merely reporting on it”) and over-using anonymous sources.
