Jakarta Post: Media Reporting on Women “Poor”

A recently released Indonesian study reported that the media needs to follow journalism ethics better when reporting on women victims.

The study, about which the Jakarta Post reported, found that “only 50 percent of reports of violence against women” and “83 percent of reports on women’s issues” were consistent with journalism ethics. The research study was conducted by the National Commission on Violence against Women and looked at eight newspapers’ coverage of women’s issues in 2010.
