James O’Keefe is suing Current Media, Keith Olbermann, and David Shuster for libel over December 22, 2011 program that described O’Keefe as a “convicted felon,” the Wrap reported.
O’Keefe, as we have written, is a conservative activist who runs a group called Project Veritas.
Olbermann also said O’Keefe was on “federal parole after he was charged with [a] felony for attempting to maliciously interfere with Senator [Mary] Landrieu’s office telephone system in New Orleans” and Shuster said that there’s a “rape allegation” against O’Keefe, the Wrap wrote.
Instead, according to the Wrap, O’Keefe argues that “he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of entering a federal building under false pretenses in connection with the Landrieu incident, and an investigation did not uncover any evidence that O’Keefe and his cohorts actually intended to tamper with Landrieu’s phones.”
And, O’Keefe said there aren’t rape charges against him but that “a harassment complaint…was dismissed.”
