A self-publisher, Chris McGrath filed a libel lawsuit against Richard Dawkins, Vaughn Jones and Amazon over Jones’ negative review of McGrath’s book. The negative review of McGrath’s book was published on Amazon’s reviews and on re-published on Dawkins’ website.
According to MocoNews, McGrath’s book, The Attempted Murder of God: Hidden Science you Really Need to Know was published last year. The Independent reported that promotional links for the book were posted “under reviews for ‘the Grand Design,’ popular science book by Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow.” He published under a pseudonym and claimed it was a parody after it received negative reviews, according to the Independent.
According to the LA Times, both websites took down the reviews because of the lawsuit.
