Liberian journalists have been advised against acting as “cheering squads” for politicians, Liberian newspaper Heritage reported.
The call was made during a media ethics conference hosted in part by Liberia’s Press Union. As Gambian journalists were recently advised, the Liberian journalists were warned against reporting propaganda and from the mouth of politicians.
Liberian journalists were also reminded to report carefully and not sensationalize stories. iMediaEthics wrote last year when the U.S. State Department helped train Liberian journalists in preparation for political elections.
