NBC Miami apologized for and retracted its claims that financial manager Toni Chiricosta was “involved with” a $300,000 theft.

In fact, Chiricosta reportedly “assisted” in finding out about and “reporting the theft.”

The story appears to have been removed from the website.  MSNBC also posted an apology and retraction.

The story was about sports agent Rodney Fernandez, who reportedly stole $300,000 from Los Angeles Angels player Kendry Morales. Morales was Fernandez’s client. Fernandez “was jailed on grand theft charges” in March.
