New York Times Public Editor: Readers Complained about Obama Photo on A1; Thoughts?

New York Times public editor Arthur Brisbane reported that readers complained about a “closely-cropped” photo of President Barack Obama.

The Times associate managing editor Chuck Strum defended the photo, calling it an image of “a rare moment” of Obama showing emotions, Brisbane reported.

Brisbane called for readers’ comments on the newspaper’s decision to run the photo. Readers’ reaction was mixed as of Nov. 7, but a couple of commenters questioned the newspaper’s decision to run the image so large on the newspaper’s front page.  (The photo and accompanying story was on A1 of the Nov. 4 edition of the newspaper.)
