News of the World’s publisher, News Group Newspapers, must pay private investigator Glenn Mulcaire’s legal bills, Journalism.co.uk reported.

A High Court judge, Sir Andrew Morritt, decided Dec. 26 that Mulcaire’s contract with News Group Newspapers was still “valid.”

In August, Mulcaire sued for the company to continue paying his legal fees, as we wrote. The company stopped paying his legal fees after Rupert Murdoch’s son, James Murdoch, told Parliament in July that the company was still paying his legal fees. Mulcaire was convicted of phone hacking in 2007.
