NPR’s Edward Schumacher-Matos addressed his role as ombudsman in an Oct. 11 interview with NPR.  Schumacher-Matos noted that even though he is NPR’s ombudsman, he is restricted to reviewing NPR’s national coverage.  His role “doesn’t extend to local stations” and that he is curious as to “what extent” he covers NPR-distributed programs.

Schumacher-Matos also noted that a “growing complaint coming in” from readers and listeners concerns NPR’s avoidance of being labeled liberal-leaning.
