New York Times editor Tom Wright-Piersanti apologized for offensive tweets.
Problematic tweets, flagged by Breitbart, included saying on New Year’s Day 2010 that “one of my resolutions is to be less anti-Semitic,” and a tweet in 2009 about the “Jew-police.”
New York Times spokesperson Danielle Rhoades Ha told iMediaEthics by e-mail, “We are aware of these tweets, which are a clear violation of our standards. We are reviewing next steps.” iMediaEthics has direct messaged Wright-Piersanti to ask how many tweets were deleted.
The Wrap noted, “Two that have not been deleted make jokes about individuals of Indian descent and Mohawk Indians.”

In a tweet posted Aug. 22, Wright-Piersanti, whose Twitter bio says he is an editor for the politics desk, wrote, “I have deleted tweets from a decade ago that are offensive. I am deeply sorry.”
Earlier this month, the Times demoted Jonathan Weisman over his problematic tweets and use of social media.
