Ohio Morning Meteorologist Suing Chief Meteorologist for Libel

An Ohio meteorologist is suing another meteorologist at his station, NBC-affiliate WCMH, for libel, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

Morning Meteorologist Bob Nunnally claims that in June, Chief Meteorologist Jym Ganahl “made false statements that injured Nunnally in his ‘trade or profession’ and exposed him to ‘ridicule, hatred or contempt,'” the Columbus Dispatch reported.

The Dispatch noted that the details of the libel lawsuit are vague because Nunnally’s lawyer Jennifer Joseph “wants to provide the material to the court under seal.”  Likewise, Ganahl’s lawyers didn’t offer more information on the comments in question but called the lawsuit “not viable.”

Making the case even more ethically interesting, the Dispatch explained:

“The case was randomly assigned to Judge Daniel T. Hogan, who recused himself because his wife is Gail Hogan, who hosts Daytime Columbus on Channel 4. The case is now assigned to Judge Richard A. Frye.”
