Earlier this month, Pakistan’s press council named “four jurists to head the Inquiry Commission” for the council, according to the Express Tribune.
The Inquiry Commission “will deal with complaints against media houses and journalists.”
Last month, Pakistan’s Press Council chairman Raja Shafqat Abbasi announced that the council had been accepted as a “member of the World Association of Press Councils,” according to an article by Pakistan’s The News.
Abbasi described the membership as a “welcoming move” that would help the press council have a “more vibrant role.”
