The Guardian’s Roy Greenslade reported that the UK media regulatory body the Press Complaints Commission’s director, Stephen Abell, has been reaching out to UK editors to “develop best practice across the industry.”
Abell reportedly sent letters to the editors “urging them to answer a number of specific questions about their editorial controls and activities.” For example editors are asked about the newspaper’s use of private investigators, Greenslade noted.
According to Greenslade, the PCC’s phone hacking group will consult the editors’ responses to the questions
