Piers Morgan apoloized for a 1980s news story he wrote that described a gay kiss on TV as a “homosexual love scene between yippie poofs.”

In a Jan. 28 tweet responding to someone sharing an image of his old article, Morgan wrote:

“As I’ve said before, I’m ashamed of some of the inappropriate language I used in The Sun thirty years ago about gay stars. They were different times, but that’s no excuse – it was offensive, it was wrong, and I apologise for it.”

The article was publihed in The Sun in 189.
