Propaganda, Fact-Checking, Sourcing Discussed at Catholic Church Media Ethics Breakfast

The Times of Malta reported that the Catholic Church held a “business breakfast themed Media Ethics,” in late June.

At the breakfast, ethical issues of fact checking, spreading rumors, bribery, and questionable sourcing were discussed, according to the Times.

The University of Malta’s Media and Knowledge Sciences’ Father Saviour Chircop instructed the attendees on the importance of self-regulation, as well.

According to the Malta Independent Online, Chircop also called for media ethics codes at news outlets and the avoidance of propaganda.
