Seattle Times reporter Mike Rosenberg resigned, a month after the Times suspended him amidst sexual harassment allegations.
Rosenberg resigned June 7, according to the Seattle alt news site The Stranger, and the Times didn’t provide its findings of an internal investigation. The C is for Crank site broke the news.
Rosenberg was also voted off the Society of Professional Journalists Western Washington Chapter board. Pacific Northwest nonprofit news site Crosscut reported the board’s president Sarah Toce said:
“After careful consideration and failed attempts at obtaining a response from Mr. Rosenberg, a vote has been cast to effectively remove him from the Society of Professional Journalists – Western Washington Chapter (SPJ Wash) board.”
Toce told iMediaEthics, “Mike Rosenberg is no longer a board member of the Society of Professional Journalists – Western Washington Pro Chapter (SPJ Wash). His term expired in June.”
As iMediaEthics previously reported, the Seattle Times suspended an unnamed “news employee” after Brooklyn journalist Talia Jane tweeted screenshots showing a Twitter user sent her “sexually charged messages.” While the Times didn’t name Rosenberg, Jane later posted a screenshot showing Rosenberg’s name. The Society of Professional Journalists’ Western Washington chapter suspended Rosenberg, who was a board member, as well.
